1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can stewed tomatoes
3/4 cup catsup
2-3 tbsp brown sugar
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
1 can yellow or white corn
3/4 cup corn meal
1 egg
1 tbsp sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp canola oil

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 400º. Brown ground beef, green pepper and onion. Drain. Add stewed tomatoes, catsup, brown sugar, tomato sauce, corn, chili powder. Mix together & sprinkle 1 tsp each of salt & pepper over the mixture. Stirring thoroughly.

Mix corn meal, egg, sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, canola oil. Spoon over casserole mixture.

Bake 20 minutes or until topping is done.

You can use 2-8 1/2 oz jiffy corn bread & muffin mix for topping; following directions on box. You may also add 1 can of red beans, if desired.
