3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs separated
3/4 cup milk
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter thoroughly; add sugar and beat well. Add egg yolks, and beat again until light and fluffy. Sift the flour, measure, then add the baking powder and salt and sift again. Add this alternately with the milk and vanilla to the creamed mixture. When well blended fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.
Have ready an 8" x 8" pan of thin coffee cake dough or pie crust pastry rolled about 1/8" thick. Pour in the filling, then bake at 325º until firm - about 40 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
