Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups shortening
1 tsp. salt
8 Tbsp. water (about)
1/4 cup flour
1 1/4- 1 1/2 cups sugar
8-9 apples (granny smith, golden delicious)
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
2 Tbsp. butter
Milk for crust

Directions:
Directions:
Cut shortening into 3 cups flour and salt with two knives until pieces are about the size of peas. Do not stir. Now stir in enough water to make a dough that holds together. Divide in half. Roll out 2 crusts on a floured surface. Place one crust in bottom of 9” pie pan.
Peel, core and thinly slice apples. Mix with 1/4 cup flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and place in pan with crust. Place dots of butter over apples. Spread milk on edge of crust and place 2nd crust on top. Cut edges so they are just over the pie pan edge. Roll crusts together and turn under. Seal crust edges and decorate by crimping with a fork, or flute with your fingers. Slit top crust with 5 slits. Brush crust with milk. Put 1 macaroni in each slit to prevent boil overs. Place foil on bottom of oven. Preheat oven to 450°. Cook pie 15 minutes. Turn down oven to 350° and continue baking for 1 hour or until knife goes through apples easily. Remove macaroni and discard. Cool. Serve warm with ice cream.
