Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 425º
3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar plus 2T sugar divided
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 and a half sticks of cold butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup buttermilk. For best results, we use buttermilk powder and add the appropriate amount of water.
1 10 ounce package cinnamon chips from King Arthur Flour. Can be purchased online.

Directions:
Directions:

Stir together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut butter into 1/2 inch slices and mix into flour with a pastry blender until course crumbs form. Add buttermilk and stir until soft dough forms. (If using the dry variety, add dry buttermilk in with the flour mixture then add water after crumbs have formed as package indicates.) Add chips and gather dough into a ball. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead about 12 times. Cut dough in half. Roll or pat one piece of dough into a 7 inch circle 1/2 inch thick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with 1 Tablespoon sugar. Cut circle into 6 triangles. Place triangles on ungreased cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough ball. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden on top. Cool on wire rack.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These scones are a family favorite around the holidays. For years my mom has made these scones on Christmas morning. Cinnamon chips used to be easily found in the baking aisle of most grocery stores. Unfortunately they are hard to find now. We have found the best way to purchase the chips is online through the King Arthur Flour website. Enjoy!
