1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups rolled oats

Filling
1/2 lbs. of dates
2 tbsp. brown or white sugar
1/3 cup of flour
1/2 cup butter
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. orange juice
grated rind of 1/2 orange
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Cook dates, water, butter, flour and grated rind and sugar in small pan over med heat until thick and smooth.Remove from heat and add fruit juices. Mix well. Let cool

Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Blend in butter with fingers or fork.
Add sugar and rolled oats. Spread half crumb mixture into 9x13 pan. Pat to make smooth.
Cover with cooled date filling, spread evenly and then cover with remaining crumbs. Pat smooth.
Bake at 325ºF for 30-35 minutes. Can increase temperature toward end of baking time to brown top.
