3 1/2 - 4 lb. chuck or sirloin tip roast or venison
1 large onion, diced
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup vinegar
1 cup water
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 cup raisins
4-6 crumbled gingersnaps
flour, salt, pepper, fat for browning

Directions:
Directions:
Salt, pepper, flour roast and then brown in 2 tbsp fat.
Put in roasting pan, add onion, bay leaf, vinegar, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and allspice; cover and cook low heat 1 1/2 hours (low heat) add water if needed.
Turn meat, add raisins then cook till meat is tender approximately another 1/2 hour. Add crumbled gingersnaps, cook until thickened.
