1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp. catsup
1/4 cup dry sherry or apple juice
1/2 to 3/4 tsp. crushed red pepper (optional)
1 clove garlic (pressed)
1 green onion, sliced

2 Tbsp cornstarch
2 Tbsp water
2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Directions:

Mix all the first ingredients together in a sauce pan. Then, in a measuring cup or bowl, mis the cornstarch into some water until it's dissolved. Add this cornstarch mixture to the sauce before it gets very hot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until thickened. Serve over chicken and rice with some stir-fry vegetables.

I always double this recipe for our family of six. It is really yummy. I have made this without onions, used garlic powder instead of fresh garlic, and used red wine vinegar instead of the apple juice or sherry and it still turns out good.
