2 oz Red food coloring
3-4 tbsp Nestle Quick chocolate
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 1/2 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Buttermilk (room temp - VERY IMPORTANT)
2 1/2 cup CAKE flour (sifted 3 TIMES)
1 tsp salt
ICING:
1/2 cup Butter (not margarine)
8 tbsp Crisco shortening
1 cup Sugar
3 tbsp Flour (regular)
2/3 cup Milk (room temp)
1 tsp Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Combine red food coloring and Nestle Quick chocolate, set aside, will be like paste.
Cream together in a bowl shortening, sugar and eggs - add to color paste. Next add vanilla, buttermilk, cake flour and salt - BEAT WELL BY HAND. Pour into a 9 x 13 nonstick pan and bake 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting. Cream together all icing ingredients with mixer. Ice cake and keep refrigerated.
