5 lbs. chicken (any type)
equal parts (about 2 c. for 5 lbs)
* "shoyu" (soy sauce - Aloha brand)
* brown sugar
* water
ginger
garlic

Directions:
Directions:
Place equal parts of shoyu, sugar and water in a large pot with chicken. Add sliced ginger and crushed garlic to taste and bring to a boil. Simmer on low until chicken is tender or almost falling off the bone (you may use a fork to test). Serve with rice and a side vegetable.

Aloha brand soy sauce is the best to use. You may use lower salt if preferred. In Hawaii we serve it over hot rice with a side of corn and macaroni salad.
