8 tart apples
1/2 cup sugar
dash salt
1 tsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp grated lemon rind
1/8 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
wash core and pare apples. place in saucepan. Add 1tbsp. water .simmer until apples are tender. stir in sugar,salt.lemon juice,lemon rind and cinnamon.taste add more sugar if desired. cook 1 minute more.
