Cake:

1 box spice or carrot cake mix
1 c water
3 eggs
1/3 c vegetable oil
1/3 c apple butter

Frosting:

1/4 c butter
1/4 c maple syrup
3 c powdered sugar
2 c coarsely chopped walnuts
1/4 c semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 c chopped almonds
2 T chopped dried apricots
2 T chopped dried cranberries
2 T raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°. Spray 2 9-inch cake pans with vegetable spray. Combine cake mix, water, eggs, oil, and apple butter; beat until well blended and smooth. Pour into prepared cake pans. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool and frost with Maple Frosting. For the frosting:
Beat 1/4 cup softened butter and 1/4 cup maple syrup in medium bowl until well blended. Gradually beat in 3 cups powdered sugar until smooth. Makes about 3 cups of frosting. Frost cake. Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over frosted cake. Sprinkle with fruits and nuts.
