1/2 C butter, softened
1/2 C shortening
1 1/2 C sugar
1/2 C molasses
2 eggs, lightly beaten
4 c flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/4 ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp.ground cloves
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and eggs. In another bowl combine flour, ginger, cloves, salt, baking soda, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Gradually mix flour mixture into the creamed ingredients until dough is blended and smooth. Roll dough into small balls, then dip into granulated sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 11 min.
Do not overbake. Cool on wire rack. Store in thightly covered container.

About 3 doz. cookies

These are very easy to make and are a hit with our family. I find putting a slice of bread in the container with the cookies will help to keep them soft.
