Everyone should have a toaster at their breakfast table. Brilliant!

Julie: Daddy was the master of making toast. He, who was always so frugal, indulged in a very expensive toaster late in life--one that none of us could ever figure out how to work.

He elevated buttering toast to an art form..."make sure you get the butter all the way to the edges of the crust." And, if he ended up burning the toast, he'd hand it over to Mom to scrape off the burnt parts saying, "oh, a little carbon never hurt anyone"!
