2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 T. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 T. vanilla
4 T. milk
2 c. shortening
2 c. peanut butter
1 c. light syrup
chopped nuts (if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Blend in shortening & peanut butter with pastry blender. Stir syrup, milk and vanilla together. Blend into flour mixture to make a very stiff dough. Shape into balls & press with a fork. Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 350º.
Suggestion: Roll cookies into ball and flatten with bottom of glass. After removing from oven and still very hot, push into center of cookie, a chocolate candy kiss and let cookies cool
