1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg well beaten
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream shortening & sugar together.
Add beaten egg - mix until smooth.
Sift flour with salt and add to batter.
Beat well and add flavoring .
Drop on cookie sheet like small marbles (well apart).
Bake 10 minutes. Check after 5 minutes, once they are brown along the edges, they are done. They will burn easily if not watched closely.
