28 oz. can tomato puree
28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
12 oz. can tomato paste
1 to 2 cups water to thin gravy if desired
2 to 4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 cups fresh basil leaf (1 tablespoon dried)
1/2 cups fresh oregano (1 teaspoon dried)
1 teaspoon fennel seed
1 to 2 tablespoons white sugar (to take away tartness from the tomatoes)
Fresh black pepper as desired
Salt as desired

Combine all ingredients in a stock pot, slow cooker or crock pot. Simmer for a minimum of 1 to 3 hours. For better flavor, add meatballs or Italian sausage, when simmering.
