Use venison, elk or beef round steak. Cut in pieces. Roll in flour & brown. At same time, sauté 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms in olive oil. Place meat in cooking dish. Add mushrooms, 1/2 raw white onion, & sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Pour 1 can of mushroom soup over all. Add enough water to cover meat only. Cover baking dish tight. Cook at 325º for 1 1/2 hours. Make certain it does not dry out. When done, pull out everything from dish but liquid. Add one small container of sour cream to liquid. Mix carefully. Make gravy. To serve, arrange all on a dish & pour gravy over top & put leftover gravy in gravy dish. Serve over flat, wide cooked noodles. Great for company.
