onions bay leaves
celery parsley
potatoes salt and pepper
broth or spices and herbs to taste

Directions:
Add 1 1/2 lbs. meat/poultry, for whatever kind of soup you like, to a large soup pot. Use chicken legs/quarters or beef short ribs or beef soup bones.
Chop vegs.(any kind you like) and cover all with water/broth. Add spices to your liking. Simmer for 2-3 hours. Remove meat and take off bone. Put meat back in pot. Add rice, barley or noodles to thicken. Cook 30 minutes longer.

You can add gravy packets or leftover gravy to soup to thicken. CLEAN OUT THE FRIDGE - ADD LEFTOVER VEGS, SPUDS OR PASTA. Soup freezes well. Make a big batch and freeze some for another day.
