1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 scant teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoons vanilla
4 tablespoons sour milk (1 teaspoon lemon juice)
1 cup mashed bananas

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, cream together butter,eggs, vanilla, and sugar. Stir in remaining ingredients. Add flour mixture and stir until moistened. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes (estimate), until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean.
