4 lbs. veal shanks
1/4 c. flour
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 c. water
1/2 c. white wine
1 instant beef bouillon cube
1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp salt & pepper

Directions:
Directions:
1. Coat veal shanks with flour and fry in hot olive oil until brown, about 20 minutes. Drain excess fat. Add remaining ingredients and heat to boiling. Reduce heat to simmer. Cover and simmer until veal is tender – 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
