1/2 lb. salted butter
4 egg yolks
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 3/4 c. flour
1 jar apricot jam
For the topping:
4 egg whites
10 Tbsp. sugar
14 Tbsp. ground walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter until soft. Add egg yolks and mix well. Add sugar and flour for a medium textured dough. Pat dough in a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes. When slightly brown on the edges, take out and spread with jam. Then, spread the following topping:

2. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and ground walnuts. Mix well and cook in double boiler for 10 minutes or until it starts changing color.

3. Spread over the jam and return to oven for about 10 minutes until it forms a crust. Cut into oblong strips while warm with a hot knife.
