1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
4 t. soda
2 t. ginger
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. cloves
1 t. salt
1 cup sour milk (cultured buttermilk)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening; add molasses. Sift 2 cups flour with other dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add more flour to make a soft dough that will roll out. If you let stand in refrigerator a while it will roll out easier.
