1 c. brown sugar
1-1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1-1/2 c. quick Quaker Oats
3/4 c. butter

Filling:
1 pkg. dates
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar, flour, soda, salt, oats and butter and mix like pie crust.

Cook together dates, water and sugar until mixture forms a smooth paste. Put part of dry mixture in pan and pat down hard. Put in dates, then the rest of the dry mixture.

Bake in oven 20 minutes. Do not cut until cool. Cut in squares with a sharp knife.
