1 1/2 cup raisins
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup walnuts, broken in large pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over the raisin and let stand for 5 minutes. Drain well.

Mix shortening and sugar and then add eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in raisins and nuts.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Drop big cookies onto the sheet and sprinkle lightly with sugar before baking. Bake for 12 minutes.
