1 slice bread
1 tbsp. butter
1 egg
salt and pepper to taste

Cut a 2-inch round hole in center of bread. In a small skillet, heat butter until melted. Place bread in skillet and break egg in hole. Add salt and pepper. Cook slowly on medium-low heat, until egg is set. Turn over and cook until egg is done, adding more butter if needed.
