2/3 cup cocoa
3 cups of sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 ½ cup milk
¼ cup margarine
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except margarine and vanilla in a medium sauce pan. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Continue to cook until the soft ball stage on a candy thermometer.

Remove from heat. Add vanilla and margarine. Let mixture cool about 15 minutes. Beat with an electric mixer until fudge loses its shine. Pour into greased 8 by 8 inch pan. Cool completely before cutting into square pieces.

I never could make this right, but Mom could. Her family called her Tootie and so I thought I would call this recipe by that name to preserve that bit of family history.

When I do get it right, it is the best fudge, ever.
