5 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 cloves garlic, sliced
3 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts, peeled, stems removed, and cut in half
1 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup chopped pecans

In a Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium-high heat until brown. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Drain bacon and garlic; set aside, discarding grease. To dutch oven, add Brussels sprouts, water, butter, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, for approximately 15 minutes, or until almost all water has evaporated from pan. Add reserved bacon and garlic, and pecans. Cook for 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
