2 c. four
1 tbsp. ginger
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
sugar (extra)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Mix first 5 ingredients in a bowl. Beat shortening until creamy and add 1 c. sugar gradually while continuing to beat. Beat in egg and molasses. Mix in the flour mixture slowly until well blended. Form teaspoons of dough into small balls and roll in extra sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake 12 minutes or until tops are slightly rounded and crackly.
