2 1/2 c flour, unbleached. 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c butter, 1/2 c oil or apple sauce, 1 c brown sugar, 1/2 c sugar, 2 eggs, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips(2 c), 1 c chopped walnuts.

Stir together flour, soda and salt. In a mixer bowl beat butter and oil or (applesauce) on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add sugars & beat til fluffy. Add eggs & vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating til well combined. Stir in chocolate and nuts, drop by tsp. 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 375º for 8-10 mins. or til done, makes 72.
