1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
1 egg
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
flour
garlic salt
pepper
1/2 medium onion, minced
3 Tbsp. (plus) flour
1 1/2 c. tomato juice
1 small can sliced mushrooms

In a large bowl mix ground beef, pork, milk, egg, oatmeal and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into 10-12 oblong patties. Roll or pat in flour to cover.

Heat oil in skillet and brown patties, seasoning with garlic salt and pepper. Remove to a greased baking dish.

Reserve drippings, if too much grease, drain some.

To make a gravy; saute onion in drippings, stir in enough flour to thicken. Add tomato juice and mushrooms. Heat and stir till thicken. Pour gravy over the meat patties.

Bake covered 1 1/2 hours at 325º.

You may prepare meat patties up till browning ahead of time and refrigerate covered for 24 hours. This recipe halves, doubles or triples well.
