2 cups sugar,1 teaspoon soda,1 cup buttermilk,2 tablespoon,2 1/2 cups chopped pecans,1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
combine sugar,soda,buttermilk,and butter in heavy sauce pan. cook over high eat 5 minutes stirring constantly. add pecans and cook stirring constantly over medium heat until the mixture reaches 230º on candy thermometer. remove from heat and add vanilla. beat until the mixture begins to thicken. drop by spoonful on a wax paper.

store these air tight when cool. these are called white pralines because white sugar is used instead of brown sugar.
