5 medium apples 1 3/4 c. sugar 1 c. butter,softened 3 c. flour 1 c. milk 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp.salt 2 tsp. vanilla 3 eggs 3 T. apple jelly 13x9 inch pan

Directions:
Peel and dice 3 of the apples. Peel remaining apples and slice into rings, then cut in half. Preheat oven to 350º. Flour and grease pan. Beat sugar and butter until fluffy at high speed with mixer. Reduce to low and add flour and next 6 ingredients; milk, cinnamon, baking powder, salt,vanilla, and eggs. Beat until blended. Increase speed to medium. Add diced apples to mixture. Brush slice apples with apple jelly on both sides. Pour batter into pan. Top with remaining sliced apples. Brush apples with apple jelly. Bake at 350º for one hour . Insert knife into batter, if comes out clean, cake is done.
