1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 egg
1/2 cup fruit, nut, or chocolate chip of choice

In small bowl, blend the sour cream and baking soda, set aside. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in the butter. Stir in sour cream mixture and egg until the flour mixture is just moistened. Mix in 1/2 cup of fruit, nut, or chocolate chip of choice. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and kneed briefly. Roll or pat dough into a 3/4 inch thick round. Cut into 6 wedges and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared backing sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven until golden brown on the bottom.

Tried and tested through 3 generations of kids! Simply the best anywhere! This is a versatile recipe so get creative and make it your own. My personal favorite is chopped apple with a dash of cinnamon.
