2 cups sifted all purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 T. soft butter

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add milk and blend lightly with a fork only until flour is moistened and dough pulls away from sides or bowl. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead lightly (30 seconds). Roll 3/4 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place close together on lightly greased baking pan. Brush tops of biscuits with butter or margarine. Bake 475º 12 - 15 minutes.
