2 (7 1/2 oz) cans minced clams
3 medium potatoes (unpeeled), diced
3 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
3 c. milk
1 c. half & half
2 Tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper
1 can cream of mushroom soup (optional)

Directions:

1. Boil potatoes in salted water for 15 minutes.

2. Fry bacon in saucepan until 1 tablespoon of fat has rendered. Remove the bacon and fry the onion for 3 minutes in bacon fat. Add the clam broth from the canned clams and simmer for 5 minutes.

3. Add chopped clams, milk, cream, bacon, butter and potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. If you like your chowder thicker, add the cream of mushroom soup.
