Buttermilk Brownies Recipe

1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

1/4 butter
3 tbsp cocoa
3 tbsp buttermilk
2 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 tsp vanilla

In saucepan combine butter, cocoa and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Mixture will be stiff. Stir in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Add cocoa mixture. Blend well. Pour into 13x9 pan or jellyroll pan. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Immediately frost with frosting. For frosting, mix butter, cocoa, and buttermilk. Cook and stir to boiling. Remove from heat. Beat in sugar, walnuts, and vanilla.
