1/2 C (1 stick) butter
1/2 C shortening
3/4 C sugar
3/4 C packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 12oz pkg (2 Cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 C chopped walnuts

Directions:

In large mixer bowl combine butter, shortening, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla: beat until creamy. Beat in eggs. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix together. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees 9-11 minutes.

For bar cookies spread into greased 15 1/2 in x 10 in baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees 20-25 minutes. Cut into squares when almost cool.
