1/2 c white vinegar
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c vegetable oil
1/2 c diced onion
1/2 c diced bell pepper
16 oz fresh green beans, blanched and cut into 1 inch pieces
12 oz fresh wax yellow beans, blanched and cut into 1 inch pieces
15 oz can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and oil in large bowl. Whisk well. Add the onion, bell pepper, and the beans. Toss gently. Marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

I blanch the fresh beans in salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes and then shock them in ice water. Let beans sit for 5 minutes and then drain thoroughly.
