2 c brown sugar
1 c butter
3 eggs
31/2 c flour
1 tsp soda in a little water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 pkg dates
1/2 c water
2 tbsp sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cook dates, water, and 2 tbsp sugar until thick and keep separate from cookie dough. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop spoonful of dough, add spoonful of date mixture, top with spoonful of dough. Bake at 350 until lightly browned
