2 1/2 cups self rising flour,
1/2 cup butter or shortening,
3/4-1 cup buttermilk,

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 450º F. In a medium bowl, stir together flour and shortening till crumbly. Stir in buttermilk until dough leaves the side of the bowl.
( If dough is dry stir in 1-2 Tbsp. additional buttermilk).
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough just until smooth. Roll into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut dough with floured cutter (or glass).
On ungreased cookie sheet, place about 1 inch apart, for crusty sides, touching for soft sides.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
