4 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
3 T. lemon juice
3 drops yellow food coloring
6 lbs. of peeled and sliced tart apples

In a large pan blend together first five ingredients, stir in 10 cups of water. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice and food coloring. Add apples. Pack apples into wide mouth qt. jars. Process in hot water bath for 20 minutes.

One quart jar will make one apple pie. Prepare pie crust or purchase pre-made pie crust. This is a simple way to make a homemade apple pie quickly when time is limited.
