Bread and Butter Pickles Recipe

4 qts. sliced cucumbers
6 onions - sliced
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1/3 c. salt

3 c. white vinegar
5 c. white sugar
1 1/2 tsp. tumeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed

Wash cukes and slice thin. Then add onions and peppers. Sprinkle salt over layers as you work. Mix a tray of ice cubes through pickles. Place a tray full on top. Let stand 3 hours (may place in fridge overnight).
Drain thoroughly and discard salt water.
Combine brine and pour over cukes slices. Heat only to boiling point. Place in hot jars and don't use for a month.
