1 c. chopped dates
1/2 cup boiling water
2 T. brown sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice

1/2 c. melted margarine or butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. rolled oats
1 c. flour

Cook filling until softened. Cool.
Cream ingredients together for crumb mixture. Put 1/2 of mixture in bottom of 9" x 13" pan. Press down. Add cooled date filling, spreading evenly over crumbs, sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over dates. Bake at 350F. for 20 - 30 minutes until slightly browned.
