3 parts Indian meal (cornmeal)
1 part Brown Sugar

Mix this and brown over a fire.
This is what's known as "sagamite" an Indian name. Used in small quantities it not only allays thirst but appeases hunger as well.
It was very useful to soldiers in the Civil War on a scout.
