1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted

Preheat oven 375º. Lightly grease 16 (2-inch size) muffin-pan cups.

With wooden spoon or portable electric mixer at medium speed, cream shortening, sugar and egg in medium bowl. Mixture should be light and well blended. Stir in sour cream.

Sift flour with baking powder and salt directly onto creamed mixture. Mix until smooth.

Fill muffin-pan cups two thirds full; bake 20 minutes.

Make topping: Combine sugar with cinnamon, mixing well. Dip tops of hot muffins into butter, then into sugar mixture.

Serve warm. Makes 16 muffins.
