1 stick butter
1/3 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. fresh crushed strawberries
1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry jello
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
2 2/3 c. sifted flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. milk
1 tsp.vanilla

Icing. 1 lb. box sifted powdered sugar
1/4 stick butter
1/2 c. fresh crushed strawberries

Directions:

Cream together until fluffy, the butter, shortening and sugar. Add the strawberries and jello and beat well. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and add to mixture alternatively with milk. Add vanilla and fold in egg whites (stiffly beaten). Pour into three 9-inch cake pans that have been prepared with shortening and flour. Bake for 30-35 mins. at 350º. Icing. Blend all ingredients. Beat thoroughly and spread between layers and on top of cake which the cake is cool.
