1/3 cup All Vegetable Crisco Shortening (makes biscuits flakier)
2 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 heaping teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients, then cut in the shortening using a pastry blender or two knives using scissor-like motion. Next, add the milk until the mixture is “tacky”. Roll dough on wax paper with as little flour as possible. Fold dough over, roll lightly and cut. Bake in 450-500º oven until golden (about 10-12 minutes).

If there are leftovers (highly unlikely), slice them in half, butter and toast them under the broiler. The true Southern way to serve biscuits is with cream gravy. See the recipe under Sauces and Gravies.
