3 cups flour
1 1/3 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp plus 1 tsp cider vinegar
4 tbsp ice water
1 beaten egg

Directions:
Mix together: flour, salt and shortening.
Add vinegar, egg and water (1 tbsp at a time until flour holds together)

Personal Notes:
For the flakiest crusts, 'cut' the shortening into the flour creating small 'pieces' of dough before adding the eggs and water. As long as you avoid over mixing the dough those small pieces 'fry' creating the flakes everyone loves.
