Cake:
2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. applesauce
3/4 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. raisins, optional

Frosting:
1/2 c. margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk
2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
walnut halves

Directions:
For cake, preheat oven to 350º. Combine margarine, eggs, and applesauce. Add remaining ingredients, mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until tested done. Cool completely before frosting. For frosting, in medium saucepan cook margarine and brown sugar over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stir in milk. Bring back to boil stirring constantly. Remove from heat let cool to lukewarm. Gradually add powdered sugar beating until smooth and thick. Add vanilla. If frosting is to thick, thin with a little milk. Spread on cooled cake. Top with walnut halves.
