1/2 c vegetable oil
5 med -lg onions, chopped
5 # lean grond beef or turkey
4 c ketchup (1 qt)
1 1/4 c dijon mustard
2/3 c soy sauce
1/4 c Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp hot pepper sauce
2/3 c packed light or dark brown sugar
1 Tbsp garlic powder
30 sandwich buns

Heat oil in large roasting pan over 2 burners on med high heat. Add onions and cook, stirring until tender, 5-7 minutes. Add ground meat and cook, stirring frequently to break up large chunks until no longer pink. Drain or spoon off excess fat.

Mix remaining ingredients in a small bowl and stir them into meat. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until mixture is thick, 5-8 minutes.

To warm sandwich buns, heat oven to 325º. Place buns in single layer on baking sheet and warn 8-10 minutes.

I made this for a family gathering and everyone told me these were the best sloppy joes they had ever had. This mixture freezes well for 1 month. Thaw and then reheat as above.
